This is a survey course that introduces students to the structure and function of American government. This introduction includes a study of the theory and philosophy that is the foundation of American democracy. It looks at the structure and function of the three branches of government and their relationship to each other.  Students are engaged in an in-depth study of American constitutional development, will explore contemporary issues that have arisen from the evolution of Constitutional Law, and will examine judicial behavior and its impact on public policy.
